This book made my head spin, and not in a good way. The plot might be OK if you could do without the characters. The heroine is one dimensional and constantly in a state of panic or other high emotion. She never says anything sedately and if I read "she cried!" one more time I will have a fit. You cannot maintain that kind of angst continually - either in real life or, more importantly, to have a good story. I would only recommend this book if you enjoy reading historical, fantasy romances with tepid sex and women who lack the ability to have a single rational thought.

This book is in an entirely new direction for Joyce. Unfortunately, I have been disappointed in her last three books and this is the worst. If you are looking for sex, not romance, this is for you. The entire book is sexual and not presented in a "fluff" manner, which becomes boring after a while. The little bit of plot is flawed with contridictions throughout. The book does supply lots of character introductions and explantions about the Masters, which you will need to know if you continue with the series. I don't think I will be continuing.

This is the first Brenda Joyce novel I have read. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading the next in the series. Several editing errors irked me a little, like leaving the periods off the end of sentences. I mean, really, who does that in a published book? But the story itself was imaginative and entertaining.

If Malcom of Dunroch suddenly appeared at my home I would leap across space and time with him on the spot, anytime, anywhere and figure out what to tell my husband and boss later (sorry Claire). Joyce has created a superb series that leaps right off of the page. Fast action, great storyline, swoon-inducing men, strong females, and hot hot highlander romance. I even chose the handsome Malcom as my avataar. This series is a keeper and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Ah Calum!

I loved this book. If you like J.R. Ward, laurell k hamilton and sherrilyn kenyon you will love these too.
