Helpful Score: 1
The characters:
Teva & Lash (Nic),
The story:
Lash is a condemned soul. He spends eternity in the Netherworld being beaten to death, literally. His deaths are horrific, described in detail, and heartbreaking.
Teva is a compassionate, sweet, but strong-willed woman running a camping reserve in the Louisiana Bayou. She is trying to make it on her own without anyones help.
Fate brings Lash and Teva together, or is it Fate? Teva finds Lash naked and injured in the Bayou. Teva, wanting to help, takes Lash in not knowing anything about him. Lash, accustomed to torture and anguish, thinks he has reached his own Paradise.
From the beginning, Teva realizes that Lash is not normal. She initially thinks it is his injuries. Lash does not know what a car is or what a television is, he has no preferences for things, he appreciates the simple things in life and is grateful for everything. While she should be wary of him, she finds his kindness and his appreciation for her to be heartwarming. She clearly is falling for Lash.
Lash quickly realizes that he was sent to Teva for a reason. He is going to do everything possible to protect Teva from the evil forces that brought him to her even if it costs him more in the end.
Lost In The World:
I loved the setting. The Bayou was isolated and rugged. The author does a good job of making the reader feel like you were in a bug, and animal infested hot, swampy place. I liked the fact that the location was not your normal cabin setting. It definitely added flare to the book.
Will I read the next book in the series?
If there was a second book, I would. I had a few issues with some sentences. I kept thinking I was reading them wrong but realized it was bad editing. This only happened a few times and in no way, halted the flow of the story.
Lash is such a likeable character that I felt like rescuing him. The way the author shows his gratefulness was very clever. When you are tortured repeatedly, the choice of mustard and mayonnaise is insignificant!
The sexual tension in the book was through the roof but handled very tactfully. This is not a straight smut book. It had a great story line!
