I thought this was a great book. I struggled in the beginning because I didn't know how I would like reading a romance/vampire novel with a man that is deaf and mute, but I set that aside and tried, and was rewarded. Then after reading it, I anxiously went to the computer to see if there were more books in the series and there were. I ordered them! Well I ordered one and the other on my wish list :-)

I struggled and struggled to get through the first 100 pages and finally gave up. I found the author's style of writing frustrating as she used too many flashbacks. To me, this was a disappointing read.

Good start to a really good series. Brandon is a gentle hero who has to be tough to survive his family and all the things they've done to him.

A good quick read, with an interesting plot and characters that I look forward to seeing in the following book. The cliff-hanger ending forces the reader to continue on with the series. I enjoyed the vulnerability that effected the heroes making them less then perfect but that much more endearing.

Ok. It was a quick read and characters engaging enough to keep my interest but part of the quickness was due to skipping a lot of passages.

The hero, Brandon, is a wonderful character who is both deaf and mute but has the compensating factors of telepathy and hotness. Oh and he's a vampire. He falls in love with Angelina "Lina", a slightly older woman, human, cop. They are, despite my lukewarm review, actually a pretty sexy couple.

The story builds as the two of them fall in love and lust, make love, have a crisis, wind up apart. Then the rest of the book, probably about half, is them apart from each other. For a romance, didn't really work for me.

The overall story is left somewhat in the air, to make you want to read the next book. However the next books are about different main characters, and I felt like there were too many loose ends about this couple, especially Brandon. Further, looking ahead at the next books, the main villain in this book is eventually the main hero in book 3 or 4. A lot of books make bad characters turn a corner and become good, I just don't think I feel like reading about it in this case.

Probably not going to pursue this series.
