It looks like exactly the kind of book I'd like. Strong female protagonist, search and rescue in wilderness, dogs, a bit of supernatural - but I didn't care for it much. One problem was that I felt like I'd come in during the middle of the movie - this is apparently a spin-off from another series and there's tons of backstory that affects what the characters do. Another is the unbelievability of the FBI actions. Two people get taken hostage and they're like, "Well we better humor the bad guys, it's the only way". Then Jamie, bruised and battered with a knee swollen to twice normal, is scampering about the hills and crawling through tunnels. Mmmm, no. I liked the supernatural bits, but I couldn't summon up my suspension of disbelief for the rest.

Takes forever to get anywhere, just too wordy with too much that isn't necessary bordering on boring
