This was just plain and simple BAD.
The idea of werehounds being different than and enemies with werewolves was a new and different idea, but I didn't enjoy this story enough to read the follow-up book, Darkness Bred. While the lead characters were mostly likable, some plot points left me thinking, "huh?" and there was an awful lot of world buiding for a series with only 2 books. My favorite werewolf/vampire/fae book series are by Patricia Briggs.
My first book by this author. Actually a pretty awful book. Weak story; weak, bland characters; confusing plot and sentence structure. I had to read and reread just to try to figure out what the author/characters were trying to say. I only finished it because I had time and money invested in it. Thankfully there is a long waiting list for this book and I was able to get a credit for it. I will not be purchasing the next in this series when it comes out in December 2012.
Good book. The characters were great. Stella Cameron is an amazing story teller.
