This book is a good introduction to this new series. The author has his own style and did not attempt to copy Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's writing style, except to keep the language in the times in which the story was written. I look forward to reading more in this series.

This may be the beginning of a new series but I don't think I will read the following books. Yes, I loved the cover and maybe that's what led me to believe that the book would be quite good.
Interactions between the two Dr. Watsons and Joanna Blalock were often entertaining. And, I liked the mystery segment for the most part. On the other hand I thought the author spent far too much time with the romance between the younger Dr. Watson and Joanna Blalock. Too touchy feely for me. Felt like the writer could not decide whether to write a mystery or a romance. Better luck with the next novel in this series.
