This is an excellant series; second only to Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. This is book two of four in the series; #5 comes out "mid 2006 - tentatively titled Queen of Swords" - that is from her web site. Elizabeth and Nathaniel will remain in your hearts.

This is the second novel of Donati's series about colonial Paradise/Lake in the Clouds, NY. Nathaniel, Elizabeth, Hannah (Squirrel), Curiosity and Robbie find themselves on an adventure that takes them far from home at considerable peril. The story is original, engrossing and rich in gritty historical detail, even as the characters Donati introduced develop depth. A fine sequel that surprises and leaves you ready for more.

In the winter of 1794, on the edge of the New York wilderness, Elizabeth and Nathaniel Bonner have settled into the comforts of domestic bliss. Typically, however, adventure seeks these two out. Alone but for her stepdaughter Hannah, Elizabeth gives birth to twins, while Nathaniel and his father Hawkeye are imprisoned in Montreal. Determined to help her men, Elizabeth packs up the children and sets off to free them. Liberty does not bring relief to the Bonner clan, however, as sinister forces conspire to pirate them to Scotland and embroil them in a complex family feud.

Very good! HIstorical novel set in pioneer New York State / Canada / Ireland. Second in series. Accurate description of pioneer life and a new country's political scene.
A really good one for lovers of historial fiction. Set in late 1700s its romance, history and adventure in the wilderness area of NY and on to Scotland.
Great followup to 1st series installment - Into the Wilderness.

This is the 2nd book in the Into the Wildnerness series and continues on with the story, and it was equally as fun to read. While Donati is not Gabaldon, I still enjoyed reading her books.
Nice continuation of series. More characters added. This book takes them to Montreal and then Scotland. Too long on the boat. I didn't like the Scotland setting as well as the upstate New York setting. I love reading abou the magical relation ship between Elizabeth and Nathanial.

Second book in the Wilderness Series Saga. Make sure to read "Into the Wilderness" (book 1) first. Sara Donati is a very talented author who is able to spin a tale with well developed characters and details. You will feel like you are there, on a wonderful journey with Elizabeth Middleton Bonner and her family. Love this series!

An enjoyable read. I plan to read book one and the following books in the series.
Donati is a great writer and has compelling stories and characters. I searced the library desperately for the next installment after finishing each book. Now I'm trying to fill out my own set to loan to others. Worth owning.
