My daughter Joy loved this book when she was a little girl. She likes to read and this one always made her laugh.
Cute book, with lots of pictures!
Another Stephen Kellogg classic illustrated.
This is the escalating bedlam imagined by a girl just back from a 1st grade trip to a farm. It will replace the yawns of the parent trying to read a nighttime story to his child.
Back of Book: The class trip to the farm was boring until...the cow started crying, the haystack fell, and the pigs got loose. What about the boa? It's a lo-o-o-ng story.
I say: Pub. 1980. Wonderfully funny for any reader. A delight to read out loud. The colorful full page illustrations are full of action, emotion, and humor. The story starts out with mama asking her little girl "How was your class trip to the farm?" And the little girl answers "Oh...boring...klind of dull...until the cow started crying." And the stories get wilder and wilder until the reader is just about rolling on the floor with laughter.
I love the way the little girl relates the story. It's just how children talk. They don't give you the whole thing at once. You gotta pry it out of them. The illustrations are my favorite and what makes this story memorable for me.
Kindergarteners like this book, a little hard for them to read on their own.
