This is an early parody of life in Hollywood in the vein of Waugh's âThe Loved Oneâ and Huxley's âAfter Many a Summer Dies the Swan.â Don't look for the glamour here; it's more about the sleezy surroundings as a host of characters ply their way through the emptiness not knowing what they are seeking, unless it is to die there. Animal rights activists may want to skip chapter 21: the cock fight.
