I loved this series. This is book 2 and it would be nice to start from the beginning, but the jest of the story can be picked up from any place in the series. This was just a very factual, entertaining and beautiful read. Michael Phillips is a fantastic author and i found myself hanging on the words from each page. A lovely series to become involved in.

I absolutely love all of Micheal Phillips' books. This is another page turner. He depicts and unlikely bond between 2 girls growing up in the South as the Civil war ends. The girls have to grow up too fast, taking on responsibilities of male adults as well as female adults. Running a large plantation isn't easy!
