This is the second book in Deveraux's Edilean series. It was a fun read that often felt like a comedy of errors as well as a romance. He loves her, she loves him, but he's wanted for kidnapping her (actually she ran away) and stealing her money (actually she took it herself). In order to keep her safe, he leaves her because he has a price on his head. Upset at being left, she shoots at him when he finally does return. They do get to happily ever after and there are nice scenes of community in both Scotland and America.

Great Historical Romance from Deveraux! This is the history of the founders of the town Eidlean from the previous book Lavender Morning.

This series is awesome. I've read Lavender Morning and Days of Gold. I wish I had read Days of Gold first though.
Very good book! The author does a great job of filling in the Edilean tale from its roots in Scotland and the story line constantly keeps the reader turning the page. Looking forward to Scarlet Nights!
I've read all of Jude Deveraux's historical romances and have loved all of the previous books I've read. This book was unusual in that it followed her general writing style but lacked the character development and interaction that I enjoyed in her other books. Just a few chapters into the book I looked at the cover to make sure that Jude Deveraux was actually the author as the style, although very easy to read, was almost what I would expect from a young writer who was just starting out in their career....one who does not yet have the life experience that helps contribute to character development. Towards the end of the book the plot becomes somewhat disjointed, to the point that I felt as if some of the story had been left out between two of the chapters.
I very much enjoyed reading this. I felt it was better than Scarlett Nights.
It's a good read and hard to put down.

Great to learn the story of how Edilean was founded. Love this series!
It was OK.
Scotland, 1776: The laird of the clan, Angus McTern, has everything he wants in life. That is, until he is captivated by Edilean Talbot. Breathtakingly beautiful and born of privilege, Edilean represents everything Angus despises. Still, she dazzles him, and when Angus can no longer hide his feelings, she rejects him, leaving him deeply wounded and humiliated. But when Edilean needs his help to reclaim the gold she inherited from her father, her haunting beauty-and her tears- convince him to put aside his pride. However, when Angus tries to intervene, he is accused of kidnapping and theft. To avoid being prosecuted, he must escape with Edilean to America. There they will overcome almost insurmountable obstacles as the man who claims the gold for his own endlessly pursues them. Despite all that tries to keep them apart, Angus and Edilean also find a love as wild and free as the land itself.
Love love love Jude Deveraux
I loved this series of books.
Great historic novel, I loved the reference to Eilean being courted by Thomas Jefferson. It was a very evil plot with some good twists and turns.
One of Jude Deveraux's best pieces! Loved the first one, couldn't put the second one down and can't wait to sink my teeth into the third! A thrilling story from start to finish!
I have been away from Jude's new books for a bit because I read a few I didn't like in a row. BUT i got a deal on this one and the one before it through Rhapsody book club so decided to try them.
The first one in this series was great but this one was even better (which I didn't realize was possible) the only possible critique was the ending was tad rushed... could have been a little more but she still did an amazing job. Very good characters and plot lines :)
Great read.. FAST read..

I am enjoying this series! Ready to start book 3, then I'm loaning all of them to my sister, I think she will like them too.
very good book
For me the book was a bit slow reading at the beginning but then it started to pick up and became interesting. I love historical novels and this one is no exception. Have read the Montgomery series from book 1 to the end and I loved them. I love Jude Deveraux and I just discovered the Edilean series.
I love Jude Deveraux. Her books always have a little bit of mystery, romance, and comedy. She is one of my favorite authors. So far, this series has been very good.
ENJOYED THIS BOOK VERY MUCH--MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW GOT ME TO READ MISS DEVERAUX.-I REALLY LIKE HER
