Sarah is a brave woman. After the Civil War ended in 1865. Sarah, her mom and brothers left war torn Missouri to head west. Sarah at 24 years old could drive a wagon, even though deep rivers as well or better than most men. Sarah was kind and a compassionate christian woman and tried to help everyone. She, her mom and brothers decided to go to Montana where she began a life as a schoolteacher, quit, married and had 5 children. Sarah had a lot of drive, dare and adventure for a 19th century woman.

I've read numerous memoirs about women crossing the plains in the 19th century, and enjoyed reading about their experiences. People who complain about delays at airports have no idea how fortunate they are.
This one was interesting, as, except for a few bad experiences, Miss Raymond's trip seemed to be almost idyllic. As if they were on a picnic. This is almost totally different from the other memoirs I've read. Either she was very fortunate, or she whitewashed her experiences.
