This was a pretty good book. It was a little hard to follow at times dues to the "technicalities" about types of guns, bullets, etc.

This book is about a woman who is accused of shooting her husband for insurance money. The writer, Frank J Daniels is a prosecutor and he chose to write the story of his prosecution of this woman. I found it hard to wade through as he is not the best writer, although he is probably an excellent prosecutor. I think he needs to stick to that and leave the writing to someone else.
He bogs the reader down in too many technicalities that goes on for pages and pages, consequently the narrative doesn't flow smoothly because of it. In spite of his writing, the story is compelling and if one can mentally edit out what is mind-numbing and skip to the meat of the narrative, it is a good read.

In 1995,...An experienced hunter, Janice was taking her husband on his first trip to shoot deer and elk. Dodson had been shot three times and died from a bullet that went straight through his chest.
Daniels, a district attorney in...concluded that Janice... killed Dodson in order to inherit an estate valued at half a million dollars. Daniels recounts here the many interviews he and his team conducted and the forensic and ballistic discoveries...although all of the evidence was circumstantial and the murder weapon was never found.
Unfortunately, the author's writing and characterization skills do not match the suspense of this true crime story. Daniels paints Dodson as a good-natured victim while describing Janice as manipulative and disturbed, but neither character comes alive." amazon

Newly wed John Bruce Dodson's first hunting trip turned out to be his last. Struck by three rifle bullets-one through his chest, dead center-Dodson died high on Colorado's beautiful Snipe Mountain, one among the hundreds of annual hunting accident victims in America. Or so said his wife of three months, Janice, a crack markswoman who happened to gain half a million dollars in life insurance. Something never seemed right about that story to D.A. Frank Daniels. And when he learned that Janice had remarried-and convince her new spouse to take out a valuable life insurance policy-he and his investigators had to race against time to substantiate their suspicions and prove them to a jury.
