This is perhaps one of my favorite novels ever. Absolutely riveting, but it was so emotional I couldn't read it in one sitting. I had to keep taking breaks because I'd get too worked up. Lyrical writing, beautiful imagery, and soulful characters.

This is one of my favorite novels of all time. I am afraid I may never again read another one this good. This is a strongly character-driven novel in the voice of a man waiting for his wife to awake from a coma. I was hooked from the very first page and finished it in two days. Dillan's love for his wife is heartwrenching and so pure. This is Charles Martin's first book, and in my opinion, his best. Have the tissues ready for this one! I can't wait to read it again.

Fantastic book that captured me from the first paragraph. Charles Martin has a unique way of writing that seems so simple, yet makes me feel like I'm right there living the story. This story will make you cry and ask yourself "what would I do?" Highly recommend this book!

I love this author, he's improved so much as a writer. This book is somewhat simple and predictable. It's a pleasant read but not as good as his later books.

This is billed as a novel of awakening and I would have to totally agree in so many ways. I found myself crying 2/3 through as it touched me in a sweet and magical way. (I rarely cry.) I throughly recommend this book and can't wait to read more by him.

Good book. Was different than I expected. I've ordered the second to continue the story.

This is a lovely, lyrical book with wonderful imagery. It draws emotion out of you and gives you a glimpse of your inner self that is rarely shared or acknowledged. I highly recommend this book and can hardly wait to read his other novels.
