Move over, John Grisham! Brad Meltzer is my new favorite! I loved what the Chicago Tribune had to say about it: "A gem of a plot ... so strong ... breezes along in high gear. Highly recommended!" I couldn't have said it better!

I loved the premise of the book...husband and wife pitted against each other racing against time, each with a desperate secret. A book filled with great suspense, wonderful witty dialogue, great character development, and enough suspense to keep you turning the pages long after your bedtime. Enjoy!

Brad Meltzer has a writing style similar to John Grisham. Although not a literary genius, he can craft a good story with alot of intrique, suspense and some simplistic action scenes. This book is one of his better works because it really tackles the tension of a married couple forced to take different sides on a high profile court case.

A legal thriller. Two brilliant atornies, man and wife, one on each side of a high profile case. "TERRIFIC . . . Reads like a Tracy-Hepburn movie . . . complete with cliffhangers at the end of every chapter and a truly scary ending." NEWSDAY

Again an excellent book by Brad Meltzer. I love the way he pits the husband and wife against each other but makes it come out okay (sort of) in the end.

This is an older Meltzer book dating back to the late 90's, but its definitely a story that could happen in the present.

Husband Jared is pitted against wife Sara in a battle in the courtroom, but the verdict not only effects the the defendant, but the couple as well. See, they have both been told that if they lose the case, their spouse will be killed. Neither knows that their spouse has been threatened in this way.

Both lawyers are very competitive and with this new incentive, they hold nothing back to win. They begin to question whether they can trust one another---or anyone else for that matter.

This is a great page turner and a highly recommended read.

I thought this legal thriller was great. Well developed characters (none that you could really root for), face paced and truly impossible to determine exactly what was going to happen. I have always been a fan of Brad Meltzer, I am not sure why it took me this long to read this one, but I am glad that I did, it reminded me how much I enjoy his novels.

This is the first of Meltzer's books that I have read. I will definitely be reading all of his others! Well written suspenseful story line, interesting characters, difficult to put down. An excellent read!

From amazon:

Dead Even is truly gripping. Brad Meltzer has created characters that are realistic enough to be believable, but quirky enough to be captivating. The lawyers are especially determined and the criminals are especially sinister. Even more impressive than his characters is his don't-blink-or-you'll-miss-something plot, which grabs you on page one and doesn't let go until you close the cover. When reading Dead Even, you may find yourself holding your breath as you furiously turn the pages. It's a legal thriller that gives Grisham's books a run for their money

This book was a classic who done it til the end. I could have done without the language, etc, but otherwise I will be more than likely to pick up the next book in the series. I am glad I read the member reviews that led me to this find!
