Dick Francis delivers again! He sticks to his formula - likeable characters, horseracing, and a good mystery. The twist with this novel is that the protagonist is a restauranteur, not a jockey, but the horse world is still very much a part of the book. It is an enjoyable read.

Wow, he hasn't lost it! There are some authors whose books seem to go downhill (naming no names), but not this guy. I've been pleasantly surprised with his last two - I was expecting less after hearing of his wife's death and all the speculation about how much she contributed to the stories. Well, his son Felix has stepped up to the plate and there has been no loss as far as his fans are concerned.

Interestingly, this book had a Wisconsin tie-in that I enjoyed.

Max Moreton is a rising star in the culinary world when his restaurant and reputation take a hit when a case of massive food poisoning is reported from one of his catered affairs at the Newmarket racetrack. Positive that he did nothing wrong, Max sets out to prove it.

Dick Francis is once again back to form with this book. I felt that "Under Orders" was a bit choppy, but this book (with the assistance of his son Felix) has a smoother feel, and some plot twists that are absolutely thrilling. A definite page-turner.

Not typical Francis - more mystery and less horses but thrilling to the end.
