This story started with a bang and soon turned into a whimper. Gordon has a one-night stand with a young woman, and when she is abducted, he pulls out all the stops to rescue her. That was an appropriate action, don't get me wrong. What was strange was that Gabriela suddenly turned into his soulmate. Please.

Gordon's career and marriage had just folded, and he was in Spain for a restart. His wife had an affair with a co-lawyer, and Gordon's career as ex-military and ex-mercenary was over. It seemed too fast for Gordon to latch onto another woman after such a brutal breakup. Emotions take time to recover, and the author dismissed this fact and kept the character in play. This isn't normal behavior in my world.

The action scenes are first-class, but the emotional consequences of some of Gordon's actions are not addressed. However, the ending was rousing, and I gave back some of his stars.
