I always buy these yearly anthologies simply for the new Eve Dallas/Roarke novella by J.D. Robb. She doesn't disappoint with ETERNITY IN DEATH, which centers around an evil psychopath who truly believes himself to be a vampire.

Mary Blayney's story, AMY AND THE EARL'S AMAZING ADVENTURE, actually didn't make much sense to me, and I didn't finish it.

Ruth Ryan Langan writes a really good Scottish time travel story with TIMELESS. Although I don't really like historicals, I enjoyed this short story.

ON THE FRINGE by Mary Kay McComas is another time travel, about a wife who wonders what life would have been like if she'd made different choices and decisions.

DEAD OF NIGHT is worth the read simply for J.D. Robb's story, but TIMELESS is also a pretty good read.

I orginally ordered this book for the JD Robb story. That was, of course, great! The next two I really enjoyed, but the last story was alright. I probably would not have read it had it not been in this anthology.

This was my first experience with an anthology. I love Nora Roberts but I had never read her writing as J. D. Robb, so I thought I would give this one a try. I have found that I don't really care for anthologies. I need a little more substance to my reading. I found the four stories in this anthology just alright. I think from now on I will stick with a regular length novel.

I picked up this book to read ETERNITY IN DEATH by J.D. Robb.

A socialite is found...dead from exsanguination. Lt. Eve Dallas and Detective Delia Peabody are called to the scene. Tiara Kent looked peaceful if it wasn't for the two holes in her neck. Is there a vampire on the lose? Eve and company infiltrate an underground club called "Bloodbath" to look for clues.

This is a short story in the In Death series. My rating: 4 Stars.

DEAD OF NIGHT
Nora Roberts, writing as J.D. Robb, puts futuristic lieutenant Eve Dallas in a supernatural showdown with the most seductive criminal: a vampire...An ancient coin whisks an American woman and a handsome aristocrat into the past-and into each other's arms-in a stirring tale from Mary Blayney...When a city girl visits a Scottish castle in Ruth Ryan Langan's story, she is thrust into a timeless romance with the mighty Highland laird...And Mary Kay McComas gives a modern woman a magic-carpet ride into an alternate reality to show her the grass isn't always greener.

i only got this book for the story by j.d. robb, but i read the rest.
ETERNITY IN DEATH
this was kind of a switch from the normqal j.d. robb books. in this one, she has to battle a 'vampire'. eve drags peabody, roarke, and her other cop friends deep underground to capture a murderer.

AMY AND THE EARLS AMAZING ADVENTURE
this story wasn't so bad. amy finds herself wisks away with a handsome guy to find out some secrets about his family.

TIMELESS
i wasn't crazy about this story at all. lorel is sent to the highlands to save herself and a warrior.

ON THE FRINGE
this was a cute story where bonnie goes a magic carpet ride to see what her life would have been like if she had made different choices.

Have to say only got this book because of JD Robb's IN DEATH novella. That's all i read, and it was well worth it. I just dont read any of the other authors, and those titles didnt interest me. Love Nora Robert's IN DEATH SERIES....

Generally in an anthology you have about an equal number of good stories and dogs, usually with the scales tipped toward the former. This is the first time I've come across a parasitic one - an excellent (as always) Eve Dallas short by J.D. Robb is used to carry around three bloodsucking ticks that serve no purpose other than to irritate and annoy. The other three obviously were written as fillers and have the feel of being scribbled on a deadline, what with the cliches, wandering plots, worthless scenes and gratuitous sex thrown in in hopes that it might distract. Anyone who picks up this book can stop at the first story and burn the rest. If Eternity in Death appears in another J.D. Robb collection of shorts, I will gladly purchase that and get rid of this volume, but meanwhile I have to hang onto it so my Eve Dallas collection is complete. I very reluctantly give this 2 stars, only because it rankles to have to give any J.D. Robb story the appearance of being less than appreciated, as I rate her story 4 stars while the other three get 1 apiece.

This is a paranormal anthology containing four short stories by four different authors.
It is nice to have a few novellas around when I'm in the mood for a quick, light read, and at least half of these are worth the time it takes.

So don't pass up J D Robb, "Eternity In Death".

"Amy and the Earl's Amazing Adventure" by Mary Blayney, When the brother of the present day Earl and Amy are whisked into the past to solve a mystery.

Ruth Ryan Langan's "Timeless", a vacation in Scotland and a ripple in time end up with this is a richly-woven tale with deep feelings and exciting intrigue.

Mary Kay McComas' "On the Fringe" A magic carpet, alternate reality, a desperate situation, all lead to some important things to learn.

You haven't collected all of JD Robbs crime stories about Eve Dallas until you've bought the anthologies with her short stories. This one is called Eternity in Death. The future of New York looks crime ridden with clever, sneaky murders. I'm happy to read about Eve Dallas, who kicks butt and bites her husband's bottom lip.

J.D.Robb was terrific, as always, but the others were not so good; I couldn't finish reading any of them
