This is the fourth book in the Joanna Brady series. It's not the best book in the series, but it's a good one.

One of the things I like about the Sheriff Brady books is that we are dealing with ordinary people in unusual but believable situations. It's not the like glitzy best-seller thrillers that are so popular, where all the characters are powerful, wealthy people dealing with extraordinarily amazing situations. Instead, we deal with the daily life of a hard-working, interesting lady sheriff in a small town but a big, lightly populated county. Murders happen, and she finds out how and why.

And the stories are interesting, even without anyone being a senator or movie star.

I highly recommend this series, and I think you'll enjoy this book. (Unless, of course, you are one of those folks that require senators and movie stars in your books....)

Sheriff Joanna Brady is the law. Recently widowed Joanna discovered early on that she could either avenge her policeman husband's death or could be buried along with him. Now, as newly elected Sheriff of Cochise County, Arizona, Joanna must find a way to fight the good fight while remaining the kind of mother and human being she respects. In "Dead to Rights", Joanna faces the ultimate challenge when she alone among her staff believes an open-and-shut murder case must remain open, and the obvious perpetrator may not be quite so obvious. Her instincts soon evolve into the will to survive as she gets caught up in the danger and deception of the case - and the murderer turns against Joanna herself.
