Within a few days of Liz's arrival, the area is rocked by the suicide of a successful businessman, another disappearance and the ritualistic murder of a teenage girl who Rachel was counselling. Frightened for her sister's safety and well-being, Liz teams up with a former Miami cop - Rick Wells - to uncover the dark and deadly secrets that are poisoning paradise.
This is the first book of Erica Spindler's that I've read and I must say that I really enjoyed it very much. I will certainly keep her in mind as an author for me to read again sometime. I give this book an A!

Good suspense. What happened to her sister? Why did a successful banker leap to his death? Why was the teenage girl who befriended Liz murdered? A former cop helps her find out.

A little too heavy on the Christianity for this agnostic, but otherwise a terrific thriller!

This was an excellent book as are all of Erica Spindler! She keeps you guessing til the very end!
One of the best romantic suspense novels I've read!
Very good. Not my favorite Spindler, as the religious overtones of the book were not my style, but I would still reccomend it.
About good and evil. In Key West where murders are coming at a faster pace the murderer is not known till the end of the book.
This was fast paced but not one of my favorites. It seemed predictable.
Really liked this book. Keeps you guessing until the very end. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
Troubled teenagers, a satanic cult, a serial killer and hurricane-force evil disturb the island paradise of Key West in Spindler's latest chiller. Divorced family counselor Liz Ames relocates from St. Louis to Key West to investigate the disappearance of her sister, Pastor Rachel Howard, who left Liz a mysterious phone message about a teenaged girl, illegal activities and threats to her life. Local police chief Val Lopez does not share Liz's certainty that her sister has fallen victim to foul play, nor is hers the only island mystery confronting police: a wealthy loan officer with deviant tastes has plummeted to his death, a suspected suicide; another bank employee is reported missing before her body washes ashore, a suspected homicide; and just as Liz gets to know her, a teenage girl is brutally murdered and mutilated, her runaway boyfriend the prime suspect. Liz seeks help from Rick Wells, Miami cop-turned-bar owner and close friend of the police chief; Rachel's successor, Pastor Tim; and Heather Ferguson, the blonde bombshell owner of a bikini boutique. Not knowing which locals she can trust, Liz (who's not entirely honest herself) heads into the eye of a hurricane and a classic confrontation between good and evil. Spindler (Bone Cold; All Fall Down) demonstrates the power of faith over satanic forces with campy descriptions of both and embellishes her by-the-numbers thriller with savvy amounts of sex and moral outrage, investigation and confrontation, psychology and romance.
It book had me guessing till the very end...
Very good book. Was a real page turner for me. Another side of "paradise".
Spindler's book just keep getting better and better.
An excellent mystery! Nice blend of religion, occult, mystery, sex, and romance.
Solid characters, a great setting and a good plot. I quite enjoyed reading this, it was fast paced and kept me turning the pages.
I'm in trouble, Liz. I've uncovered something . . . They're watching . . . "
That panicked message on her answering machine is the last time Liz Ames hears from her sister Rachel, pastor of Paradise Christian Church in Key West, Florida.
Compelled to uncover the truth about her sister's disappearance, she heads to Key West. Within hours of her arrival a successful banker jumps to his death. Then a teenage girl whom Rachel was counseling is found brutally murdered. The ritualistic style of the killing is hauntingly similar to that used by the notorious "New Testament" serial killer now on death row.
Could the teen's murder be related to Rachel's disappearance? Is a copycat killer at work? And why do the police refuse to help?
For answers, Liz turns to Rick Wells, a former Miami cop who worked the fringes of the "New Testament" investigation. Together they peel away layers of deception to reveal a terrifying adversary and the unspeakable evil at the heart of this island paradise.

Her sister has disappeared, and everyone thinks she is a little looney tunes when she goes to find her.
Excellent book.
this book is spell binding.
Not a bad thriller novel that does well with the twists and turns. I liked the character development, despite it being a bit obvious.
Another great Spindler book. The story is about a woman who sister has vanished in Key West. As she searches for the truth about her disappearance she is helped by Rich, a former Miami cop. They uncover a socitey called "The New Testament" and it ties to a serial killer who is on death row. Was the wrong person convicted or it is a copycat? Good read!
Good solid characters, good plot, keeps your interest throughout the book
Fun, fast read. Typical Spindler. If you haven't read her books, give them a try. You are sure to get hooked on them!
A panicked message from Liz Ames sister Rachel, a pastor of a church in Key West, and her dissapearence(Rachels) sends Liz down to the Keys to find out what really happened. What she finds is murder and mayham, a cop and a bartender who are friends and a disfiguerd mute. Can she trust anyone, will she end up like her sister? Great storyline.
very well written to the end
although you might be able to figure out part of it(which I did) it doesn't take anything away from the story and just keeps you reading until you are finished
