This is a really good book by a first-time author, wife & mother (also expecting another baby) killed by bullet to head. Husband naturally suspect, moreso because he was the only other person at the crime scene. Was he railroaded by a vindictive mother-in-law, the matriatial head of her family? Did 20-20 TV program & press help or hurt his case? Would he testify at his own trial? Were there affairs in this marriage? Did the jury do a good job reaching a verdict? Do you see this as justice being served? I am going to see if this author has done more work, this first work was so much more complete than most true crime stories. One of my favorites!

Good book, a lot of detail about people you don't really care about. Very long court testimony and lots of repetition. Could have been much shorter ...:) Better than some but not the best read I've had...

From the back cover - A promising young attorney and a dedicated family man, Michael Fletcher seemed to have it all. But in the summer of 2000, Michael found himself standing trial for the murder of his pregnant wife, Leann. The verdict - guilty of second-degree murder - would leave friends, family, and the public at large scrambling to make sense of a twisted and frightening series of events that ended in the shocking death of Leann Fletcher.

The writing style was less complex than the books I typically read. However, I was impressed that the author admitted that he started his research with a preconceived opinion but was able to stay open minded enough to change his mind by the time he wrote the book. The book doesn't feel biased and does a good job of discussing the case neutrally.
