I THOUGHT THIS BOOK AS GOOD OR BETTER THAN "DEADLY GAMBLE", THE FIRST IN THE MOJO SHEEPSHANKS SERIES. IN THIS BOOK MOJO SOLVES THE MURDER OF THE LITTLE GIRL, GILLIAN, THAT HAPPENED NEAR THE END OF THE FIRST BOOK,"DEADLY GAMBLE". "DEADLY DECEPTION" FINDS MOJO SEEING AND INTERACTING WITH MORE DEAD PEOPLE AND DEVELOPING MORE OF A RELATIONSHIP WITH DETECTIVE, DARRACH TUCKER. IF YOU LIKED "DEADLY GAMBLE" YOU WILL LIKE "DEADLY DECEPTION".

I really enjoyed this 2nd book in this series. Mojo, the new p.i., has dead (friendly) people who help her solve murders. Her gorgeous cop boyfriend often comes to the rescue when Mojo gets herself in a fix. The book is funny in parts and also steamy.

Bk2 in Mojo Sheepshanks series.I didn't read the first book but I think is a winning series. Mojo is a former medical billing clerk turned P.I. by way of a mailorder course. She has also inherited a biker bar saloon. Oh, she also sees ghosts and talks to dead people. The fledgling, inept investigator seems to be the order of the day in recent books I have read.

This is a funny easy read involving murder, blackmail and mayhem. A winner.

Second in a series. Miller puts a fun twist on the enthusiastic amateur girl detective with the obligatory hunky cop boyfriend by making her protagonist able to see and communicate with the ghosts of murder victims. Even that skill doesn't help her figure out the transparently obvious villain here. This gets a boost from C to C+ by a fun twist in the very last scene, apparently setting up for more books in the series.

In the second Mojo Sheepshanks' novel, she solves the murder of Gillian (the ballerina that was found murdered at the end of the first novel: Deadly Gamble). 3 relatives belonging to her sister, Greer, also turn up dead. Mojo solves the mystery thread tying them together and also learns about the dark secrets in Greer's past. Of course, there are amorous visits by Tucker, as well. Considering how this second novel ended, there will undoubtedly be a third Mojo Sheepshanks' novel released in the near future!! As usual, the characters (both dead & alive) were entertaining, the romance sizzling and the book was a delight to read.

Excellent book with a sub plot. Could not put it down. One murder to solved. Two murders to prevent. Numerous dead bodies and blackmail plot.

First, Im not really into ghost/paranormal stories; my life is paranormal enough without taking on ghosts and dead children. However, I was interested enough to read the first story of the Mojo Sheepshanks series and decided to try the 2nd.

Miller has an excellent sense of timing in both of these books, so one is not too caught up with the strangeness of the plot line. However, I found the subject of Mojos career endeavors to be a bit depressing. We were introduced to the ghost of the 7-year-old deaf-mute girl, Gillian, in book 1.

While Mojo is trying to prove that Gillians stepfather did not strangle the child, other bodies start to fall. Mojos brother-in-law dies and Mojos adopted sister is the most obvious suspect.

As a P I, Mojo seems at least as inept as Stephanie Plum (Janet Evanovichs bounty hunter heroine). However, Mojo has a good and caring heart and tries her best.

Before you get too caught up in my despair over this story, keep in mind that Im not into paranormal anything, much less paranormal-mystery-romance.

I admire Mojo, but felt this story was just a bit too far out to be plausible. My interest in a new genre started to pale with the second book.

This review has taught me one thing; Ill stay away from reviewing stories with sub-genres that I dont particularly enjoy.

Mojo Sheepshanks Series:
1. Deadly Gamble (2006)
