I was a little disappointed in this book. There wasn't as much to this book as her others. The entire book seemed to just be the back story and then there wasn't much suspense or events like the other books. It also just seemed to end without much wrap up. With there being no danger in the book there wasn't as much suspense. Kay Hooper is my favorite author, but this book is lacking.

This was a good book but it seemed to be more setting the stage for another story line than being an actual good stand alone book in itself. As always Bishop and Miranda are a great add to the story but the main characters who I thought would have more of a story line together didn't There was potential but the book itself fell short for me. I will be waiting for Book 3 in the series but this would have been a better 1.5 /novella than a stand alone book.

Terrific follow up to The First Prophet. Riveting, horrifying and compelling read.

This is only the second book I've read by this author and I have enjoyed her style. This book in particular has had me in suspense and on the edge trying to figure out what will happen next. Highly recommend if you enjoy thrillers involving psychics.

Lots of setup, moody music (so to speak), back stories galore, and literally murky lurkers coming out of shadows and woodwork. And if you like reading the first half of a X-Files type conspiracy book but can't find the second half, then this is the book for you.

I liked the world building KH is doing in this volume, but it didnot deserve a stand alone book. It's not the length - Nancy Kress' "Before the Fall. During the Fall. After the Fall" is much less than this, jumps around the timeline a lot, and spends more than half the time talking. But it was ececuted as a novella, and even if you don't know what happens afterwards, the storyline of the book came to a conclusion.

No clear resolution with this "book" exists other than the conspiracy moving onwards. Our nominal hero/heroine have coffee and delivery. Our villian remains inscrutable, although his role goes into very gray territory. Our favorite FBI couple shows up and we have a few nice moments with them, nut they coulda phoned their presence into the story given how little they actually contribute to advancing the story.

All that said. This was better written and plotted than the first book in the series. Which says a lot about how disjoint The First Prophet was.

If you enjoy the Bishop Files, this one won't disappoint. Once again Kay Hooper has written a mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat and unable to keep yourself away from this until the final page.
