This is another installment of the Kelly Flynn knitting mystery series. Overall, the story really focuses on Kelly and how she's trying to build a life for herself in Colorado. My main problem with the book was that the ending was rather anti-climactic. There was a good case built up against the suspect, but no resolution to the case. It wasn't badly written, just lacking resolution/denouement. Oh and I noticed that in my copy, there were random printing errors that really irritated. I didn't see anything to indicate that it was an ARC either, so that made it all the more irritating. Having said all that, I still enjoyed the story overall and I will continue to read this series, no doubt about it. I feel her overall writing style is getting stronger with each installment. I'm looking forward to the next book for sure! :)

This is the third "knitting mystery" for author Maggie Sefton. Her writing style is improving with each volume. Her plot twists are entertaining and keep you reading. In her first book, Knit One, Kill Two, the author was very repetitive in her descriptions and the characters were rather flat. Nice to see the growth in characters and more varied descriptions.

Knitters will enjoy this cozy mystery. Non knitters will too! But beware, the fiber descriptions may pull you into your local yarn shop!

As a knitter myself, I really enjoy the series. The only problem is that I get so caught up in the description of the yarns that I end up spending additional money adding to my existing stash!

This series is definitely a great summer read. The third, A Deadly Yarn, proves this statement to be true. Maggie Sefton does a wonderful job creating a down home environment with just enough spark and mystery to keep you turning the pages. I really love the idea of adding a recipe and knitting pattern at the end, very nice touch.

I like the setting and characters in this series, but I find the dialogue to be a bit flat. I don't think real people would talk the way that these characters do.

Not as good as the previous two prequels. But good. Another mystery involving around Kelly Flynn in Fort Connor, Colorado and the yarn shop. Not as much about knitting with this one. Not as suspenseful.

This is the first book in the series that I read, and my third "cozy mystery." This book wasn't as good as the other two cozy mysteries I read. I much preferred the Betty Hechtman crochet series. And not just because I crochet! I used to be a knitter.

The writing in this one was just so simple. I felt like a second grader could read it. Plus the main character, who is an accountant, is not creative/spontaneous/artsy enough for me to relate to. I'm an artist ... so accounting, to me, just sounds like the most boring job in the world. Also, I can't even count how many times the characters said "oh brother." Drove me nuts. It was the most overused expression in the book. I'm pretty sure it was featured on every other page. Also, my copy of the book had several major typos. For instance, the word "protege" ... when they tried to do the accent marks, my book had weird symbols instead of letters or accent marks. There were some really basic editing mistakes in it, besides that one. Sloppy job on the part of the editor. Finally, the author needs to read up on what the word "vegetarian" means and what a vegetarian is. A vegetarian is not going to be grilling up some salmon steaks. I really dislike it when details like this are not researched. It makes me think the author was either lazy or uninterested in definitions.

Having said all that, I did read this book to the end. And, it did make me want to pick up my knitting needles again. Which is a good thing. I wouldn't buy more from this series, nor would I order more from paperbackswap. However, if I was desperate for easy reading material, I'd check it out from the library for a really, really easy, leisurely, quick, "junk" read.

Knitter Kelly Flynn is thrilled that her friend Allison is joining a New York designer's studio. But when the young artist's new life ends before it begins, Kelly must unravel Allison's messy, fast-track social circle-and its lethally wound threads.

This is the third book in Sefton's knitting series and definitely worth the time to read. Sefton continues to develop Kelly's life and add changes to it to keep the reader involved personally as well as with the murder plot. I enjoy the "cozy" knitting theme as well as the plot. The setting is very well done and enjoyable.

In this installment, a fabric artist that Kelly knew is murdered, but it is first seen as a sucide. Kelly can't accept this so begins investigating herself. She actually does a good job of keeping the police involved as well, which is a nice change from many murder mysteries!

We also see developments in Kelly's personal life as she has to decide whether to cut the ties to her DC job and transfer permanently to CO. Hopefully in the next book we will see some more movement in her romantic life as well! Steve has been very patience and is sweet...they definitely need to jump over the line into actually dating!

"A Deadly Yarn" is the third book in author maggie Sefton's Knitting Mysteries. In this story, series protagonist Kelly Flynn, along with her knitting friend Megan, discover the dead body of their friend Allison Dubois, a budding young fiber artist, on the morning that they were supposed to drive Allison to the airport to start a new design job in New York City. Kelly can't help but do some sleuthing on her own to find Allison's murderer.

There's also lots of knitting and Colorado scenery in this book. It was a delightful cozy story!
