xlnt book. First published under Marion Chesney's pseudonym, Ann Fairfax.
Ann Fairfax was a pen name of the late Marion Chesney aka M. C. Beaton. She specialized in short, fast moving traditional humorous regencies. Her regency world contains the fairytale life of the upper classes and the down and dirty eccentricities and grotesqueries of that age. Her stories just rocket along and I love her acerbic humor.
My Dear Duchess is a bit of a comedy of errors. Overall, a very enjoyable regency, with delightful characters and a surprising amount of action. All of the trouble could have been avoided if Henry and Frederica had just talked to one another, but then there wouldn't have been much of a novel.
