This was a quick and entertaining book. Gives an inside look to the goings-on behind the scenes at Buckingham Palace, while a housemaid solves a murder, with a little help from the Queen. The ending was very good, I was kept in the dark until the end, which is a rare thing. I liked it enough to check out the next in the series.

Very good cozy mystery at Buckingham Palace where Jane Bee has been hired as housemaid to the royal family! While cleaning and meeting the footmen and other staffmembers, Jane actually meets the Queen, too, but one of the staff meets his death!

Jane Bee is a Canadian who has found employment in Her Majesty's service at Buckingham Palace. Fun read of how she gets involved in investigating a murder in the Palace at the request of Her Majesty, the Queen!

C.C. Benison offers the reader a unique point of view in her mystery. Instead of the 20-something woman more concerned with finding romance than solving the murder (which seems to be the recent craze in mystery novels), the reader is introduced to Jane Bee, a housemaid for the Queen of England.
The novel starts off strong with themes that might not be seen in other mystery novels. There are plenty of suspects and plot twists to keep your interest. However, when the murderer was finally revealed, I felt snubbed. There had been little evidence shown to even imply this person's involvement in the case and an entirely different motive was brought to light.
In most novels, the reader is allowed to put the clues together and make guesses as to who the murderer may be. This book cheated the reader out of that opportunity though. Other may call this novel a "killer" but I think it's time to bury it.

This was a fun book, set inside Buckingham Palace, with Jane Bee, a housemaid, in cahoots with the Queen Mother to solve a murder that everyone else thinks is a suicide.
Of course this is fiction, but the glimpse inside castle life, the English words and phrases, the characters, it was all a fun, royal romp. Looking forward to the second book in this series. I believe there are only 3 books in this series, too bad.
