I liked the first book in this series well enough to buy the second one. Alas, I think it's not up to the level of the first one -- it seems amateurishly written and it has many little gaffes in regency expressions and customs. The central mystery isn't very compelling either. I finished it because I liked the Major, but I can't give it a strong recommendation.

I knew who the culprit was right away...that being said, I still enjoyed the read...and will be reading the next in the series!
