Death Dance is Linda Fairstein's eighth Alex Cooper novel. The backdrop of this novel is the Broadway stage's dancers and actors. When a ballet dancer is killed, it is hard for Alex and her partners to tell who is a killer and who is just acting.

It was ok not a bad book. Took me awhile to read it. Seemed to drone on and on. It had it's "fast paced" moments.

NYPD cops Chapman and Mercer come to New York Assistant DA Alexandra (Alex) Cooper, wanting her help in the investigation of the disappearance of ballet dancer Natalya Galinova, who went missing during a Lincoln Center performance. The cops, long time associates of Alex's, believe she can help because not only is she a dancer too, but because she's been to too many performances at the Center to count. They want her inside take on the ballet scene, plus she knows the Lincoln Center inside out, so her aide on the case would be invaluable.
The case of the missing ballerina is no locked room mystery. The Lincoln Center is a huge place, with zillions of performers, craftsmen, artisans and various other employees as possible suspects. Plus, there is the audience to consider. Alex and her cop pals really have their job cut out for them.
How Alex gets from point A to point B and the subsequent letters in the alphabet when she works on a case is why readers come to Linda Fairstein really knows her stuff, knows her characters, knows how to put the reader right in the story. If you're into cop talk, cop procedure or just want to see how it's really done, well this book is for you. Not only is it a first rate novel, but you'll get a bit of an education here. Fairstein gives us history and a tour of the New York theater district as the setting of some of the crimes in this book. The usual cast of Alex, Mercer and Mike keep the story moving.

The book was not bad as far as a mystery novel went. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep me entertained. The history behind the theater buildings and some of the people was interesting, but I was hoping for more - not enough to annoy someone not in the business but enough to give those of us who are proof that she did more than historical research
Linda Fairstein's books are really good books. They keep you guessing until the end.
Disappointing. She is so involved in her Metropolitan Opera details that she totally forgets plot development. Her books are beginning to be pretty cookie cutter. You can count on Alex being in dire peril at the end, and if the bad guys hadn't revealed themselves, she wasn't even close to solving the case.
First one I've read from this author - I will definitely read all her others! A good peak inside the world of Metropolitan Opera.
I couldn't get into this one although I usually like her books...I thought I'd give someone else a chance!!!

A good book continuing the Alexandra Cooper series.
This is the latest of Alexandra Cooper's adventures. She has two cases going as usual the trail is not an easy one, but her partners will help her. I have enjoyed all of the books with her as the star. Of course I like legal mystery types. I think you will too
Excellent mystery series. I really like the recurring characters in this series. Assistant DA, Alex Cooper along with Mike and Mercer, are a great team. This series is exciting and each successive book is more suspenseful than the last. Great author.
