Not every court case has enough information to fill a book, and in this case, I feel that a certain amount of "wishful thinking" fills the empty spots where facts ought to be.

This was a hard book to put down. Doctors Kevin Anderson and Deepti Gupta were two young, admired, and dedicated pediatricians. Both were married and had young children. While trying to form a professional partnership, they becoming romantically involved and seemed to develop almost a love/hate relationship. Their coming from different ethnic backgrounds as well as having very different temperaments may account for some of the misunderstandings that occurred. Finally things boiled out of control. It all ended with murder at a romantic point in the San Gabriel Mountains. Dr. Anderson strangled Dr. Gupta, who was pregnant with his child. The resulting apprehension and conviction of Dr. Anderson left many questions about the relationships not only between the doctors but with their devistated spouses as well. The true motive was never really satisfactorily revealed.

How a man like Dr. Kevin Anderson could throw everything in his life away is unbelievable, yet that is exactly what he did! A successful pediatrician, well respected among his colleagues as well as in the community, husband, father, someone who vowed to "first do no harm"...murdered another doctor to whom he was a 'mentor'. She trusted him, but he seduced and impregnated her...then killed her.
A great read for 'true-crime' readers!
