Sit back, relax and enjoy Hamish along with his accent. Good book!

As usual, Hamish is charged with sleuthing without his arch-enemy Blair finding out about his efforts. This time, the murder of a maid indicates she had it coming! She made a career out of blackmailing her customers...not necessarily for money but "treats". She was not liked and didn't do a very good job either but she held sordid secrets and no one dared to fire her. Elspeth comes to Lochduh for a vacation and ends up helping Hamish a bit but not without lots of misunderstandings and hurt feelings along the way. I thoroughly enjoy Hamish MacBeth and his love and care of his pets.
MacBeth never disappoints ! The charchters seem to come to life and keeps you entertained and giggling at the antics.
I love M. C. Beaton books
Totally did not have this one figured out! Glad I found it as it is one I actually hadn't read (the cover art all makes it look alike). Very surprise romantic twist and ending!
All of M. C. Beaton's books on Hamish MacBeth are very good. I enjoy them all and would recommend them to everyone. Hamish acts like a bumbling policeman but he always solves the mystery much to his superiors Blair's consternation. Good reading.
