Hamish Macbeth loses both his girl AND his promotion. A trip to the seaside does nothing to rouse his spirits -- especially after a fellow guest is murdered.
Ms. Beaton does not disappoint. Her Hamish MacBeth series is well written, with lots of interesting little insights into Scottish mores and folkways.
