I think I'd enjoy the Paradise series as a tv series, the latest Tom Seleck tv movies have been a trial run for a weekly series. Hope it works out

People who like Robert B. Parker should love this one; it is vintage Parker. The spartan dialogue, minimal descriptions that almost read like a screenplay. Jesse Stone struggles with addictions: alcoholism, his ex-wife, and the knowledge that his job as police chief of a small town north of Boston is is last shot at salvaging what is left of a career. Not a "great" book, but a great "read" and arguably the best of the Jesse Stone series.

The 3rd Jesse Stone novel. This is the one on which the 2nd movie starring Tom Selleck was based. But, as we all know, much more detail & background in the book than what is ever included in the movie!

Couldn't put it down! The crime solving keeps me hooked even though the self-analysis and the whole Jenn thing wear a little thin. Couldn't give it fewer than five stars, though, considering it came in yesterday's mail, I picked it up at 8:30 last night and am posting it this morning!

This is a quick, easy read. The dialog is more laconic than the Spenser series by Parker, but just as entertaining. A little home spun philosophy is thrown in, but nothing too deep. Having Tom Selleck play Jesse Stone (the main character) on TV has enhanced my enjoyment of this series,

Good and fast read. Enjoy the Jesse Stone series. His weaknesses are believable and makes him a more likable character.

Great characters (except for Jenn, get kind of tired of her), good stories and keeps you turning the pages and can finish in one day.

This is the third book in the Stone series. While not as good as the Spenser
series it is more than capable of holding
your interest.I really enjoyed the series and am waiting for the next book to be printed.

Another great book with Jesse Stone in Paradise. Parker maintains the zippy dialog from start to finish. I had to read one section to my friends. Jesse's 'on and off' romantic relationship is getting trying.

Not bad, but I'm not a big fan of books that consist almost entirely of dialogue, and after a while it becomes irritating to read "Jesse smiled." again and again.

I enjoyed the Spenser novels much more.

Do not care much for Parker's Spenser character, but absolutely love his Jesse Stone character. Great reading, Can't put it down once I start reading.

"The Paradise Men's Softball League has wrapped up another game, and Jesse Stone is lingering in the parking lot with his teammates, drinking beer, swapping stories of double plays and beautiful women in the late-summer twilight. But then a frightened voice calls out to him from the shore of a nearby lake. There, two men squat at the water's edge. In front of them, facedown, is something that used to be a girl." The local cops haven't seen anything like this before, but Jesse's L.A. past has made him all too familiar with floaters. This girl hasn't committed suicide, she hasn't been drowned: she's been shot and dumped, discarded like trash. Before long it becomes clear that she must have had a taste for the wild life; and her own parents can't be bothered to report her missing, or even admit that she once was a child of theirs. All Jesse has to go on is a young man's school ring on a gold chain, and a hunch or two.
