#7 Hamish MacBeth series in which a notorious elderly practical joker is murdered when he tells all his relatives he's dying and invites them to his country home. Most of them avoid him like the plague because his jokes just aren't funny--they're mostly mean-spirited and cruel. Apparently someone has had enough and it's up to Hamish to figure out who, since as usual DI Blair has his head up his bum. :-) Enjoyable, quick read as always; a visit with Hamish and crew can always be counted on to make me smile.

Someone gets the last laugh on Andrew Trent, an eccentric but rich old practical joker. Constable Hamish Macbeth views the body in an isolated Scottish manor house and sets out upon the unenviable task of discovering who killed the unpopular Trent. I often think I like Hamish better than Agatha Raisin, but maybe that is just because the guy who played him on BBCA is hot.

Another great Hamish MacBeth novel which I thoroughly enjoyed. I am having such fun with this series. Hamish is a lovable but unmotivated constable of a small Scottish village called Lochdubh. He has a knack for solving murders causing his superior, Blair, untold headaches and makes him (Blair) look like an idiot. Good read, quick to get through and funny.
Good mystery. Quick read.
Fun to read!

In an isolated Scottish manor, a killer has the last laugh on a practical joker.
Hamish Macbeth must content with the nearest & dearest of the murder victim - as well as his own former flame, Priscilla
Seventh book in the series.
Hamish must solve the murder of an impractical joker with the help of his former love, Priscilla.
Hamish must solve the murder of an impractical joker with the help of his former love, Priscilla.
Hamish is one of my favorite characters in mystery fiction.
Wonderfully written British murder mystery. Humorous, yet holds the mystery well. Although I hadn't read any other books in this series and this is Bk 7, I was able to read it without being lost with what was going on and with whom. (Unlike some other series books where you need to start with book#1.)
