This was my first book in this series. I have been reading the Biggie series and enjoyed that very much. I found myself enjoying this book even more. Judge Jackson Crain is the main character in this series. The town barber and good friend of the judge's is murdered. There is a long list of suspects and then the judge's daughter goes missing. Can the judge solve the mystery and save the girls life?

This book started off great, but then lost steam. I really thought I was going to love it, but was totally disappointed with the last half of the book.

When Joe Junior McBride, the beloved barber of Post Oak, Texas, is brutally murdered, friend and loyal customer Judge Jackson Crain is as disturbed by the news as everybody else. Especially since his own teenage daughter, Patty, is close friends with Joe's daughter, Ashley. The list of suspects is impressive for such a small town: an unhappy second wife, an angry son, a pretty new barbershop assistant and an adoptive brother with secrets.

While police focus on Joe Junior's beleaguered widow, the mystery deepens when young Ashley goes missing. Crain puts his considerable wits and deep insights into the struggle of good against evil to unlock the mystery of Joe Junior's life and untimely death...before a young girl pays the ultimate price.
