As the readers note on the very first page will tell you. There will be no miracle, no deus ex machina, that will come in and save our lovable main character. He will die at the end of the book, but the point is not his death, it's his life.

That statement is very true for this book. I fell so totally in love with Ollie that I kept wishing for that miracle, even though I knew it wasn't coming. Ollie was a fantastic person to be able to get inside the head of. He's funny and interesting, smart and just incredibly lovable. Being inside of a teenage boys head was a trip, the constant thought of sex and food had me rolling around laughing.

This was a great new take on death. Would you really want to know you're going to die 24 hours before it happens? I thought I would, but now I'm not so sure. It's not enough time to change anything, not enough time to make a mark on the world, not enough time to travel. There is just enough time to see all of your love ones grieve. But Ollie sure did his best to make the most of his Deathday!

The relationships between the characters was a great thing to be a part of. Ollie and his best friend were fantastic, they are close-knit friends who took each other as they really are and don't judge. Ollie and Ronnie (the girl he is in love with) had an interesting relationship, and you really get to dig deep into it as the book progresses. Ollie and his grandmother had such a wonderful, loving relationship that it really made me miss my grandmothers!

While the tone of this book was really light-hearted and funny, there was such a deeper and darker meaning to each event. You can really start to contemplate the meaning of life and death and what your life has meant, or you could just take it at the lighthearted surface and laugh your butt off. Either way, there is something amazing in this book for everyone and I suggest you all go out and get your copy now!

THIS - BOOK - WAS - AWESOME!!!!

Hardly classify this as YA considering the amount of sex references, penis jokes, drug and alcohol use, but we start out knowing our main character Oliver A. Travers is going to die. So we get to go with Ollie on his last 24 hours on earth. Think Ferris Buelers Day off, but with a death sentance. This was an emotional roller-coaster ride with Ollie and his 2 best friends, Shane and Veronica (Ronnie). This book will teach you alot, about living in the moment (like every day is your last) and making right with the ones you love. It was with-out-a-doubt un-put-downable, especially since instead of chapers, the segments are broken down into time remaining, starting at 24:00 counting down. You know he will die.. How will it happen? Will he ever make things right with the one girl he loves? Read it to find out. I would also have to say the best parts of this book was the humor involved. I found myself chuckling out loud many, many times while blasting through the pages of this book.

Imagine if we lived in a world where 24 hours before you die you get a letter informing you of your demise. Blessing or curse it doesn't matter what your opinion is you will recieve your letter when the time comes. This is the world of 15 year old Oliver Travers, and this his deathday story.
I wasn't sure what to expect with this book becuase it's not what I normally read but I have to say I really enjoyed it. It didn't drag me down with depression or make me all teary eyed. Actually it made me laugh more than a few times.
The story stayed within normal limitations. Oliver and his two best friends (one of whom he's in love with) didn't even venture outside of their hometown. They did things that they normally never would have, but again these were totally believable things.
I really like how the author threw in a deathday letter yet he kept everything else real and not the least bit fantastical. The only thing I might complain about would be the fact that Olivers best friend Shane is not painted as a pretty picture. I actually felt a little grossed out by him sometimes, especially his smile.
All in all I really liked this story. It's definantly unique and the characters are a lot of fun. I recommend you read it before you get your deathday letter:)
