The editor who decided on the cover and title of this book should be given a very serious talking to, because neither has much to do with the content of the book. That, however, is a plus. I found the book less formulaic and with quite a bit more substance in the background and side stories than your average romance novel. The side characters were less one dimensional than is sometimes the case. This is probably due to the fact that the book is based on an actual event and the people on real people. Ms Henley seems to have done a good bit of research about the time period, the politics of the day and of course the people involved.

This was a definite disappointment compared to Ms. Henley's previous efforts. The characters weren't really fleshed out & it seemed like it was just dashed off to meet a deadline.
Good Read!!! Can never go wrong with a Virginia Henley novel.
