This was an interesting and engrossing mystery occurring in the mid to late 1800s in New York. I loved the characters and the action kept me very interested in this story. I especially liked the fact that the leading character was a female who had a job very few women held at the time. For a first novel, I thought this was excellent and I look forward to reading more by this author in the future.
