I love the Andy Carpenter series, and usually give it at least four stars. This one gets slightly less because, in my opinion, it had a few too many (bad guy and possible bad guy) characters, which made it difficult to keep track of who was who. When the time came for the climax and discovery who done it, I had to go back and think of who that person actually was in terms of the story.
18th in the series.

If you have been reading the books in order, a few books prior Joseph Russo went to warn Andy and was shot and killed. Patrone went to prison.
In this book Russo has risen from the dead to take over. It was really irking me and I could not read any further till I figured it out. I found a review that solved the mystery.
The author responded to what happened to Joseph Russo: "yes, Joseph Russo passed on violently five or six books ago. This leaves two possibilities: 1. The author is an idiot and completely forgot about it, though he has since been reminded by MANY discerning readers. or 2.'Deck the Hounds' is actually a medical thriller. You can probably figure out which answer is correct." David
