First published in 1975, the designs in this book are rather dated. A couple of them, such as the Eagle Tapestry and the Irish Crochet Rug have stood the test of time, and could be used with little or no modification. Many others would work well in more modern yarns and colours. It just takes a little imagination to transform these patterns into something fresh.
So, overall, a book with some hits, some near-hits, and some misses.

This is a great book, especially if you love the 70's look without too much kitsch. Many of the patterns are actually still in style, and with minor modifications (such as yarn type and color) you can have something that looks like it is from a current pattern. If you really love the look and vivid colors from the late 60's/early 70's then you really should try some of the rugs...I made a rug out of the Moroccan style star shaped pillow pattern. It's fabulous! Use your imagination to alter the patterns or make them as is - either way, you will have a real conversation piece!
