This is the trilogy of books about Paks, under one cover. A very moving, realistic story of the trials and transformation of a simple country girl into a heroic fighter for good. Ms. Moon has real life experience with the military, and it shows in her writing. So you get to see the thought behind the battles, as well as a realistic description of the battles.

I was swept up by this book about a common soldier who works her way up through the ranks of a feudal society, ultimately becoming a saint.

Really enjoyed this volume of three books.

From the back cover:
Never in our experience has a new author burst upon the sf/fantasy field to such immediate enthusiastic recognition as Elizabeth Moon with her fantasy trilogy. Sheepfarmers Daughter, Divided Allegiance, and Oath of Gold. Now at last we are able to offer all six hundred thousand words of the Deed of Paksenarrion in a single trade edition. Note that because of its size, the complete Deed of Paksenarrion will probably never be offered in a mass market edition.

Good book. I had read this a long time ago and loved it. Then I revisited it recently and still loved it.

This is a good trilogy. It's very much a page turner and I enjoyed immensely.
If I had to find fault I would say that I found it odd that this book was written by a woman as her main character (a female) is very uni-faceted. Her preoccupation seems to be with besting the boys and clinging to her virginity.
But, all in all, a great read.

Probably one of the top 5 fantasy series I've ever read, definitely in the top 10. I've lost count of how many fantasy books I've read.

I absolutely loved this book. I first read it when i was 16 and after 16 years I still enjoy reading it. Its a great example of when actual knowledge does for a book and is also a great example of how Paladins are chosen. A great read, time and again.
