As usual for the Deen family, this book makes you feel like they've just invited you into their kitchen for a cup of tea or coffee and a nice chat, along with recipe sharing. The recipes are about what I call "real food" and even though company would love them, you don't have to go out and spend a fortune or plan ahead for two weeks and spend half your life in the kitchen. Too many of the Food Network chefs have gotten involved with what I call "foo-foo gourmet food" where it is mostly just for special occasions. (I love Emeril, but a lot of his recipes are too fancy. DELICIOUS, but too fancy for me and they take too long!)

The Deen brothers included such recipes as Low Country Boil (with shrimp, andouille sausage, corn and potatoes), Fried Halibut Sandwiches (with seasoned flour coating and fried halibut, red onion, tomato and easy coleslaw), Marinated Chicken Gyro Wraps (with a yogurt-dill sauce, pita bread, lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber), Lobster Rolls (lobster meat mixed with mayo, celery, lemon juice, parsley and pepper), Chocolate and Caramel Turtles (needs no explanation!) and Tennessee Whiskey Fruit and Nut Bars (with brown sugar, pecans, whiskey, golden raisins, candied ginger, dried cherries) plus many, many more recipes that come from all over (road-trip diners, etc.)

Great quality, lots of photos. You will be pleased.
