I liked the idea of this, but the writing wasn't great and the dialogue was unnatural and unoriginal. It was also repetitive. I'm not sure how many times we need to be reminded that Sam is conservative and old-fashioned so he'll want to marry Lila, but it can never work, etc. I was really annoyed by the end. It read a lot like a first draft. It also didn't seem like it belonged in the Desire series. Not my favorite.
