I am new to Patricia Highsmith, and I just could not get in to the main character here. He was way too creepy and, well, acquiescently cuckolded for me. I felt like Highsmith was dripping with disdain for the guy, and in fact men in general. So chalk it up to me not getting the point. That said, I canceled the other Highsmiths on my wish list. Maybe my loss but there are too many books to read out there to keep going back to her.
