Slow start to this series. Too many quirky characters and not enough character development. 3 stars

Memphis, the Blues, Barbeque a perfect combination; however, this book does nothing to make you care about any of it. The characters could be eccentric and fun but you don't get to know enough about them to get involved. The mystery was pretty obvious, a little bit of a spin but very transparent. I really wanted to like this book and I kept on reading, but...there are too many mysteries I want to read to waste any more of my time on this one.

Delicious and Suspicious is a promising start to a new cozy mystery series. When the Cooking Channel sends Rebecca Adrian to discover the best barbecue in Memphis she quickly makes enemies with almost everybody in town. So, when she is murdered there is no lack of suspects. In order to save the reputation of her restaurant, Lulu Taylor starts doing some investigating of her own.
The funny array of crazy Southern characters is what makes this story. My favorites are a group of women known as "the Graces". They spent so much time at Graceland that they were made docents. Delicious and Suspicious serves a healthy dose of Southern hospitality.
