I almost didn't post this book because it contains writing of incest and from my understanding beastiality as well.
Just a warning for those who may be offended by such. I couldn't finish it but to each his own!

A beautiful book. This was my first Anais Nin book and it won't be my last. I didn't like some of the stories, but I loved others. Not for the faint of heart. I look forword to delving deeper into the stories and diaries of Anais Nin. Exceptional.

Anais Nin is a goddess of words. The content is provocative, and intriguing. And the prose are lyrical and enthralling. A brilliant read.

The content generally seems to have an dark undercurrent. It's a fast read but not overly enjoyable.

Soft-core eroticasort of. Sort of a puzzle, she most often uses the word sex to describe the female pudenda, infrequently using a clinical term, occasionally using the more crass Latin derivative. These are a set of loosely related stories that range from merely provocative to almost lewd: somewhere between Erica Jong and De Sade.

In Delta of Venus Anaïs Nin penned a lush, magical world where the characters of her imagination possess the most universal of desires and exceptional of talents. Among these provocative stories, a Hungarian adventurer seduces wealthy women then vanishes with their money; a veiled woman selects strangers from a chic restaurant for private trysts; and a Parisian hatmaker named Mathilde leaves her husband for the opium dens of Peru. Delta of Venus is an extraordinarily rich and exotic collection from the master of erotic writing.
