What is it like to exist for seven years in darkness and chains, not knowing from one day to the next how much longer you will be a prisoner? Or if you will be killed. Terry Anderson and several others spent seven years as a hostages of the Iranian government. They were physically imprisoned, beaten...treated more as an objects than human beings. This is the story of how Terry survived...how his spirit endured and triumphed. It is the story of those to whom he was connected by love and hope..his sister, his fiancee; his daughter--as well as friends and colleagues, who, like Terry, never gave up.

And there are revelations as to why Terry Anderson and the other hostages were taken..and what was really happening behind the events of Iran-Contra and America's involvement in the lethal politics and terrorism in the Middle East.

Above all, this is the story of Terry and his fellow hostages--what they shared and how they supported one another in the days and years of darkness.

Terry Anderson's account of his hostage years under Muslim terrorists... factual and not self-serving. Included in the book are several poems composed in captivity - I found them striking. For example, in one poem discussing his captors he writes...
"But I'll try to achieve forgiveness,
because I know that in the end,
as always, Christ was right."
