This book is readable and engaging. It is about a third species (or subspecies) of humanoids that lived during Paleolithic times. The Denisovans, interbreeding with homo sapiens and the Neanderthals, have varying amounts of DNA in present-day humans.
Unfortunately, there is little known about the Denisovans because of the paucity of remains left and found. As more remains are discovered, more conclusions can be derived from their placement and DNA. The book reminds readers that archaeological studies begin slowly, and as samples increase, the theories and proofs increase. This is what is going on with the Denisovans. There is a scarcity of samples to study at present.
