Depth Psychology and a New Ethic
Author: Erich Neumann
"Neumann argues his case with a boldness and passion well matched by his penetrating insights and thoughtfulness. I welcome this book as the first notable attempt to formulate the ethical problems raised by the discovery of the unconscious and to make them a subject of discussion." --From the foreword by C. G. Jung

A brilliant and important book - one of the best, if not the best, which relates Jungian psychology to the real ethical dilemmas of people today. Some reviews follow:

"A revolutionary book. Neumann suggests not only new ways to handle what he calls THE Problem of modern man - evil in itself and in society - but also suggest an entirely new conception of evil. For anyone concerned with mental health and effects of destructive or evil impulses, this book is of profound interest." American Journal of Psychiatry

"Neumann shows the practical impotence of the old Judeo-Christian ethic in our time. Based on absolute values, this ethic necessarily produces a tendency toward one-sideness. Despite its brevity, this is a rich, complicated and provocative book. A short review cannot do it justice."
Library Journal

"Neumann has dealt very effectively with the ethical implications of the unconscious, the stages of ethical development and the aims and values of the new ethic. No other publication has dealt so well with the integrative theme of Jungian thought." Choice
