I liked this book and would recommend it to anyone who isn't looking for a fast-paced, action-packed story about vampires like most of today's urban fantasies. This was a gothic story set in Victorian England that read more along the lines of Victoria Holt and other such authors. It started out slow in the beginning, but I thought the book was worth it to stick with it. I developed a fondness for many of the secondary characters that were involved. The book left off with unanswered issues that will be addressed in future books. I will definately read the next one because I want to know what becomes of the main character as well as the secondary characters who could each rank their own stories. Maybe not for everyone, but I liked it.
