  The frigid cold wind stung my numbed face, whipped my frosted locks helter-skelter, and chilled me to the bone. Striving desperately to keep my dampened spirit up, I wearily trudged through the waist deep drift, pushing myself to the limit. Round and round in endless circles I went, hopelessly trying to find shelter before the blizzard consumed my body and unhinged my mind.

In my opinion, two many descriptive words cuts the impact here. You might consider reading a book THE FIRST FIVE PAGES by Noah Lukeman.
